I worked with John for several years and we kept in contact after we both moved on to other employers.

  9. A favorite quote of mine says… “lives are like rivers : Eventually they go where they must. Not where we want them to. “These words have kept me going thus far.
JB as I affectionately call him … was more than a nephew to me. He was a son, my bossy older brother, a best friend, an entertaining and cynical mate ~ depending on the need of the hour he was whatever I wanted him to be. He treated me like one of the lads, our unique relationship had no filters or boundaries.
Today, I am not mourning John, I am celebrating his life! He was truly extraordinary. His life could be all kinds of chaos but he never
wore it on his face, he would steer his focus towards the lighter side of things. His was a life that shined brightly just so the paths of others could be illuminated. His was also a life that exemplified brilliance in every capacity. With matter that had to do with all-things life, he was an exceptional juggler balancing work with his boys Ethan and Andrew, his mum, Coreen, brother Chris , friends and other family and yes sometimes waiting hours at the airport for his favorite aunt!
He embraced tenacity, compassion and selflessness and I for one am so proud and privileged to have shared wonderful times with him. These memories makes me smile and that’s how I want to remember John.. his ‘joie de vivre! ‘The song … I am sexy and I know it comes to mind as I say this. A handsome dude who could charm the birds out of the trees, and boy he played that ‘fiddle ‘like a pro!! He certainly wasn’t lacking self confidence. A few years earlier and he could have been the cover model for Armani or Hugo Boss !
And I say the following with a Jamaican accent ……
Rest In Peace my badass brudda, the heavens are already rocking to your tunes !Love you always and thank you for the joy, laughter and fun you brought to my life.
I will end with a quote from Kahlil Gibran, Johns favorite poet.
“When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you will shall see that in truth you are weeping for which has been your delight. “
Rest In Peace Bro, I love you.

    Maria Savory ( John’s Aunt)

  36. John and I were childhood friends. I fondly remember us playing cricket and football under their house in the Hostel Compound. He was quiet and friendly. Despite the road of life took us to different places I know in our hearts we were friends and brothers. Today it is indeed with great sadness and a sense of loss that I pen these words of comfort and sympathy to his mother Aunt Amelia, his wife, children and brother Chris. I know your pain and like you have so many unanswered questions. But be comforted in the promise that we will meet our brother on that beautiful shore where there will be no more sorrows and pains.
My mother Shirley Benjamin asked that I convey on her behalf her sincere condolences and it is collectively our prayer that God grant his Soul Eternal Rest, sleep on John till we meet.

  42. Death is nothing else but going home to God, the bond of love will be unbroken for all eternity. Mother Teresa

God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4
JohnnyB Good as I call him has left the physical world and taken the course of his next undertaking, his next tasks which was assigned by the Supreme Lord God of the heavens.
Today we celebrate the life of JohnnyB as he moved on to a higher plain, a higher calling. John is always ready for the challenge, with a smile and a zest to accomplish any task at hand. The love he shared is beyond expectations, a charmer, a charismatic capturer of hearts, a man who is always there when called upon, a man who loves family and a quest to meet, greet and build a relationship with them all. John will be missed but will continue to live in our hearts.

Prayers of comfort to his mom Sumintra, wife Coreen, some Ethan and Andy, brother Chris and family and all our family and friends

  57. A Tribute for the Late John Suknundun

John Suknundun, was the last of two boys in the union of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Suknundun. As most of us know, he began his early life in Skeldon but travelled to live in Port Mourant with his parents, after his father, the late Joe Suknundun, was appointed to the post of Student Affairs Officer Male (Warden) of the Guysuco Training Centre (GTC/PM) in the late 1980s.
John, as I fondly remember, was the more out-going of the two boys. We were good friends. I remember my visits to the Hostel as a little boy; as soon as I got changed, we would be playing short-four cricket under the warden’s house and football as well.
In the afternoons, he would play cricket and football with the Apprentices, and on Saturdays and Sundays, we would join them to play again.
John was one of the wittiest guys I knew then. He was about five years older than I was, so he was more knowledgeable about things. As a teenager, he attended the New Amsterdam Multilateral School, and after completing high school, it would be anyone’s guess what followed next. Yes, he joined the GUYSUCO family as an apprentice in 1991 or, as we would say it 1991n3.
Again because of his knowledge of the systems and having had to grow up in that environment, he successfully completed the four years’ apprenticeship, and the rest is indeed history.
My knowledge of what transpired next is filled with gaps, as by then, our age difference kicked in.
I know in my heart of hearts, he was a good man and deserved the best. He worked hard and, like his parents, Joe and Amelia, he gave of his best.
My prayer and my family, particularly that of my mother, Shirley Benjamin, and his friends, that Almighty God grant his surviving family the peace and comfort to know that he is in a better place and his soul eternal rest in his sweet peace.
