As if 2020 wasn’t bad enough we are ending it with a great loss to each of us.
It is with a heavy heart that we say a final farewell to one of the pillars of this family. A stalwart of kindness and compassion, listening to all but never complaining.
I cannot be there in person but have been sharing your grief these past few days and looking through my own old photographs. The times spent together was always memorable.
My first memory was in 1980 when en-route to Canada both Grandparents visited us in England. That is when I appreciated what being part of an extended family meant. I was not bound by the small family I had known until then. You have all seen those pictures many times and they remain imprinted in my memory.
Over the past 40 years we have grown as a family but understood who brought us together and kept us a family.
Naniji made time for everyone and personally spent hours, days, weeks with each of her children, grandchildren and more recently great grandchildren. Distance was never an excuse, Her Family was more important. Something we could all emulate in the coming years.
As both grandparents take a seat at the High Table, we look up with fondness & sadness but a collective love. As they look down and see the legacy they leave behind, they are safe in the knowledge that from humble beginnings their family has grown. Together they paved the way and it’s up to us to remember that.
As we say goodbye we are reminded that Nani lived a full life and touched our hearts personally in many different ways.
She will be with us always. May God bless her soul. ੴ ॐ

  18. Rest in peace my naani. Thank you for all of your teachings and kind gestures toward our entire family. You are such a kind hearted gentle soul. You are the epitome of tolerance, acceptance and love. There is no one at all like you and this whole family will miss you dearly. You impacted all of us in our own ways and i will miss hearing your stories and you laying down beside me while i study. I hope you know we never wanted to leave you but god needed back his angel. He blessed us with 100 years of you and i guess we had to bare this pain at some point. Love you forever ❤
